Once students have gained confidence and an understanding of how to select the sounds that they want from within their initial vocal range, the focus of the work I do shifts to exploring sounds across a wider vocal range, developing the skills of singing in harmony, and tackling more complex songs. This work is done in the Develop Your Voice group.
Over time, as students increased their skills, there came a need to stretch them further, and the Sicure Voci project was born. This was an annual (3 term) project that ran from 2014 until the outbreak of Covid. The project aimed to help late-starter and returning singers to develop their singing technique, confidence, and musicianship skills, whilst having fun singing together. Students sang music written by major classical composers that involved solos and duets, as well as more complex choruses.
